ONE WORD

Ask yourself if you can describe yourself in one word. In my reading class they asked me to do this but in reality one word? I asked myself, one word out of how many words in the English dictionary. It was extremely difficult, and I couldn't do it. My words where three, family, respect and Honor. What makes me, me, is family I would don’t be able to define myself without the word family. Family is your cultures where you came from the traditions, techniques and habits you have that most people don’t know about. Within a family you must have respect and honor toward one another. Respect means a lot in my family and because of that I am a child that behaved as she was told to, respecting my elders, and saying please and thank you, and no sir yes sir. Being respectful towards the people around you defines you and what you were taught. Once again to complete this assignment I asked myself, what makes me, and that would be my family. Family gives you the opportunity to feel love, anger, sadness and trust every day.

Its not real.....

The model next to us has been completly distorted to make us believe people in reality really look like that. Photoshop is what makes this model look amazing. Her arms are smaller, her blemishes are gone, and her eyes look to die for.

Look at this girl, she is not even 12years old and look at what they have made her become. A fake person, the distorted her face, her eyes,
eyebrows, lips, make up, blemishes and even her finger nails. That is the power of Photoshop, it gives you the abilty to make something thats not so "perfect," to absolutly perfect. Every single
cover of a magazine has published a picture of some famous person, photoshoped. Its pretty much taking over our world, making young teenage girls belive they should be this "perfect."

Its not true ladies, even the person in the video we saw said even if you have a personal trainer and you work out everyday, and eat healthy you will never as perfect as some of these people that we photoshop. So that person on those magazine covers that you really want to be, is in reality is fake.

Fox News...wow

Never in my live would I have realized fox network does this. This video really opened up my eyes, seeing what fox is making people believe is ridiculous. Before the video I did believe that Fox News was a good station to watch the news, now I have a way different perspective of what Fox really is. I do believe that fox attacks its guests in a maner not proper at all. Telling a guest to "shut up," I don't know about you but that is disrespectful and rude. Also because of this so called behavior Fox is known, and with Fox being known more, it gives it more power.

Culture......

When someone says the word culture what comes into your mind? There are many different views of what culture means to someone. In the dictionary culture means, the totality of socially transmitted behavior, patterns, arts, beliefs, institutions, and all other products of human work and thought characteristic of a community or population. In the book we read it meant the world made meaningful , it is socially constructed and maintained through communication. It limits as well as liberates us, it differentiates as well as unites us, it defines our realities and thereby shapes the ways we think, feel and act.
When I think of the word culture is means family, history, where you yourself came from. It means traditions and dances that your family has repeated for several decades. Without culture this world be the same. The word same means someone or something identical with another, now why would we want this? The world is filled with so many new and different cultures, and because of this fact the world will never be the "same."
About me: My family is Mexican, and with that said, I do have alot of traditions in my culture. I am catholic and being catholic gives you the oportunity to expeciance a quiencenera. Not many of you know what a queiencenera is, but it is a celebration. This celebrates a womans 15years of age, it mostly means that you have become a young lady and not a child anymore. This title gives you more responsiblity, rules, and respect that they expect you to follow in your life. Being Mexican also gives me the privilage to say I am bilingual. Being bilingual is such an advantage in my life, and this also difines you and the culture you came from, the lanugages you speek tells everyone the culture thats behind your face.
